The afternoon after the rite of exchanging pleasantries, the Coordinator of the Expedition Dr.Micarelli explained to participants how to conduct the trip and planned activities. The Coordinator spoke about the scientific activities and also of the work whic Manuel Barraco and Sara Spinetti are comleting: part of the research group that can not participate because in preparation of his university thesis. Manuel has almost completed the construction of a pair of silhouettes of sea lions (editor\’s note: on which we will consider in detail in prossini days) that will be used for some experiments on the discriminatory capacity under predation of white sharks, after the interesting results of Manuelita (the template used in 2008) in previous experience.
After a long chat with the coordinator who answered to questions from the participants were given the floor to Dr. Sara Andreotti who explained his experience with the research team wich she join in 2007 and in 2008 allowed her, by the data collected to achieve a Master of Science thesis, giving students multiple opportunities to submit to their thesis. Then the documentary in the shadow of the Great White Shark, directed by Enrico Rabboni on experiences of 2007 was screened. At the end of the documentary, Franco Iosa, photographer / diver who has collected many interesting shots of white sharks, gave some advice on how to get interesting photos of whites sharks during the long hours of observation.
