VIII Scientific exploration
“FOLLOWING THE GREAT WHITE SHARK”

Gansbaai – Second day at sea for the team of Dr. Micarelli. The non-optimal ocean conditions have forced a delay of the start of several hours. In each case 11 different white sharks sighted and cataloged.

Extremely relevant experience, quite rare to be observed on two specimens, one male and one female, who interacted with one another behind their prey: bait without hook thrown from the scientific boat “Barracuda” precisely to study the behavior of the animals. At one point it seemed almost as fun and play with each other in that pursuit, driven without their knowledge, to a palatable food.

Great euphoria in the team for a milestone today with the cataloging and data collected. It was in fact exceeded in the shipment, the threshold of a total of two hundred seen in eight years.

The opportunity for veterans and new members of the team, was not loose for an unscheduled visit by night in the picturesque fishing village of Gansbaai, and a toast in a popular Pub.
